Old Memories

Due to getting a new camera (Canon Powershot Elph 115 IS), I had abandoned my old Kodak for months now. I stopped using it over a year ago when I lost the charger, which also meant I could not download my photos or charge the battery.

Or so I thought.

When I purchased my Canon a few days ago, it did not come with a USB cable. To charge the battery, you used a charger similar to the ones you use for rechargeable batteries. To download photos, you had to either buy the USB online (the store I went to did not carry it and the camera didn't come with it either) or buy a connector for the memory card to plug it into the computer (like a flash drive). I decided to use the connector.

I took a look at my old Kodak and discovered an old memory card. Curious, I downloaded the photos onto my mac and onto iPhoto. On it were loads of videos and photos. I edited some of the footage for home videos and memories.

One thing that touched my heart were some of Rhino's baby pictures. There were also videos, but the pictures were adorable.

He was so tiny!

Then I got to thinking...if I can charge my Canon's camera battery, maybe I can charge the  Kodak one the same way? I haven't tried it yet, but I definitely will! If it works, then I have another digital camera to use. The Canon does take better photos, but an extra camera will come in handy.

Holiday Gift Guide 2013

Merry Christmas everyone!

As I promised in my last entry, I will be doing a holiday gift guide for those of you who don't exactly know what to buy when gift shopping. I hope this will be helpful!

Fashion

Uggs are a must-have for winter. They may not be exactly in your price range this holiday season, but many stores like target and walmart sell their own "copy-cat" version that is much cheaper (I actually own two pairs of target ones myself). My experience with the walmart versions weren't the best (An odd white substance appeared on the heel and would not come off), but the target ones are nearly flawless.

Sweaters are defiantly an essential for fall and winter. They can be worm over-sized, so it works great if you aren't sure what size to get (just make sure it's not too massive).

Fuzzy or printed socks are a must-have for the holiday season. They keep your feet warm and usually have super cute colors or patterns.

Beauty

*I would suggest buying a few of every beauty item and putting it inside of a cute little basket instead of buying it individually*

Another must-have is lip balms. Two very popular ones (at least among my circle of friends) right now are eos lip balms and maybelline baby lips. They both retail in most stores for under $5.00, so they should fit right into your shopping list. If whoever you're shopping for isn't a fan of eos or baby lips, any other kinds of chapstick should do.

Things Not To Buy
  • Socks (Unless fuzzy or printed)
  • Earrings (Only if the person you are shopping for doesn't have pierced ears)
  • Anything they already have (Unless they want more than just one)
  • Anything you know someone is also getting them (Unless they want more than one)
So those are all of the things I could think of for last-minute shoppers. I hope this helps! My next entry might be a recipe for DIY hot chocolate...I think I'm going to start making a blogging schedule. Perhaps I'll do one entry at the beginning and end of each month...? I'll let you know when I figure it all out.

Blogging Issues

  Hello everyone!

I am a bit annoyed with Blogger today. As you can probably see, I have a holiday header, but not a background. The rest of my layout doesn't want to change.

  It truly is annoying.

After many tries, I finally got everything up and running. I plan on changing the header to a better photo once I get me tree up.

My next blog post should be a holiday gift guide for 2013. If you have suggestions please leave them in the comments.

So, as you can see, I posted this on Friday the 13th... :O I'm not very superstitious, but I've been a bit tense today. Better to be safe than sorry!

I also plan on changing my blog around a bit...maybe a fall theme? I dunno...I'll change it soon. I think I made this background in...March? Maybe it's time for a change. What do you think?

American Girl Dolls??

If you have been on Pinterest or my Google + (Hershey H, which is my screen name, not my actual name), you have probably seen pictures or have seen me mentioned that I have American Girl Dolls (The American Girl Website). If you were wondering what American Girl dolls are, they are dolls made by Mattel, the company that makes toys like Barbies and more.

Something that is also making most AG doll lovers like me upset is that these dolls are starting to look like Barbies, and so are American Girl accessories, clothing, furniture, and more.

The appearance in these dolls has changed a lot. The current dolls have a lot of painted on makeup, when the original dolls had very little makeup. With the makeup, they really do resemble the Barbie doll.

The original AG dolls were actually called Pleasant Company dolls. The appearance in the dolls has changed a lot. To see the difference in the Pleasant Company and American Girl dolls, check out this link: Click Here.

Overall, I love AG dolls, and I love the six that I currently own.
